About me – Ramchandra P.N.
Born in 1965, I hail from Udupi, a small temple town in coastal Karnataka, India. Having graduated in commerce from Mangalore University in 1985, I joined The Film & TV Institute of India, Poona in 1987, graduating in Direction & Screenplay writing discipline in 1990. I have settled in Mumbai since then.
About my work...
"Out of Tune" - a 7 minute film on how we burden ourselves with the meaning we assign to our past experiences.- 2004.
"Virus No. 1" - 10 minute film on the efforts of a few in Mumbai to forster community support to a patient affected by the HIV-AIDS issue. - 2003.
"Ticketless Travel" - working on this hour long documentary on migrant Kannadigas in the city of Mumbai, on people who have impacted the city - from a rag picker to a minister.- 2003.
"Heart Troubles of Ramchand Yavathmal Tiruchinapalli Azamghar" - produced, directed, editted and written this five minute fiction film on the efforts of a person to find a bride for himself whose heart test report matches his. 2003 Participated in the First Monforotto Film Festival Italy in September 2003. Participated in the Second Dallas Asian Film Festival 2003.
"Mr & Mrs 55, Kumarapark (e)" - directed this Kannada sitcom for ETV-Kannada. - 2002.
Meyaaru House - working on this independent documentary film on the dismantling and reconstruction of a century old ancestral house of the filmmaker, depicting the drastic change in the way of life in rural and urban India.
Kodavas - directed this ten minute film on the frustrations and aspirations of the Kodava community in Madikeri, Coorg, Karnataka.
“Swamy Swamy’ - Scripted and directed this comedy detective Kannada serial for ETV- Kannada. 2001
"My Banjara Diary" a 45 minutes documentary on the Banjara Tribe. -2002. for Siddarth Kak
“Gently Down the Stream” - Scripted and directed two half an hour documentaries for ‘Zee Chakra’ – on traditional ship building in Kerala and Gujarat.2001.
"Tele Tubbies" 2000 directed around 25 short children's segments of about three minutes each for this series for kids under 5years. Sub Producer: Sunil Shanbaug
Swar Sadhana - 2000 directed 13 episodes of this fiction series which traces the history of India classical music. Producer: Sangeeta Shankar. Shown in DD 1.
Surabhi – directed more than 100 five-min documentaries for this cultural program telecast in Doordarshan. 1991-2000. for Siddarth Kak.
Voices from Mini-Tibet- a 10 min film a Tibetan Refugee Settlement Colony in Mundgod, Karnataka. – 2000.
Let Us Not Forget- a 10 min film on the rehabilitation of war causalities in the Indian Army-1999.
Siri Festival- 35mm. A ten min film on a festival in a village in coastal Karnataka where thousands of women get '‘possessed’ by a godly spirit called Siri.-1999
Sarvodayagrama- a 10min film on the efforts of a person in Bellary, Karnataka who runs a village and a school according to the principles of Acharya Vinoba and Gandhi.- 35mm. 1998

Shilpgram-a 20 min film on a cultural center in Udaypur, Rajasthan-1994.
Shravanabelagola-a 10 min eye opener on the Mahamastakaabhisheka festival of the Jains in Shravanabelagola, Karnataka in video. – 1993.
The Hot Shot-a 5-min fiction film about the dilemmas of a still photographer whose snaps tear by themselves. –1991. Shown at The Mumbai Short Film Festival-1992, The Dakha Short Film Festival and The British Council Festival for Experimental Films-1998
Gotala- 1990, a 33-min fiction diploma film about Lord Krishna coming down to earth and getting involved in the earthly muddles. Shown in the Mumbai Short Film Festival-1992.
Anda Bhurji Wala – a 10 min video film on a day in the life of a street amulet maker.- 1990.
